SharePoint beta exam 77-886

Yesterday I did the SharePoint beta exam 77-886. The exam is primarily intended for power users, but as a Dev and ITPro consultant, I found the exam most useful. Now, the exam contains 87 questions and it is not the regular multiple choice ones. You will use a real SharePoint site and you have to click your way to the answer. E.g. the question could be: Allow content types to be added to the document library Documents. Then you have to navigate to the Documents library settings, Advanced settings and select Yes for Allow management of content types. And of course, there are more complex questions. Are there no multiple choice questions at all? No worries, there are about 15 multiple choice questions.

The questions you will get are in the categories :

  • Creating and Formatting Content
  • Managing SharePoint Sites
  • Participating in User Communities
  • Configuring and Consuming Site Search Results
  • Integrating SharePoint 2010 Services and Microsoft Office 2010 applications

But I also got questions about configuring service applications and PerformancePoint Dashboards. Guess, you will have to know your way around there, too.

My score was 828 and I really enjoyed the exam. I took me over 2 hours to complete the exam. Some questions do not work properly, but hey… it’s beta. At the end you’ll have the opportunity to comment the exam.

This exam is available until June, 1st. For those who will take this exam, GOOD LUCK!

Update:

I get lots of questions about where to take this exam. Well, at first there was no test site here in the Netherlands, so my colleague Marc Molenaar (Big Thank You!) took the initiative to contact coordinator at CertiPort and also called some familiar test sites too, such as Centric Training and JSR. On his blog you will find more info about these contacts. Hopefully it may be useful for you as well.
